TDP versus BJP fight is likely to take a new turn as BJP is leaving no stone unturned to collapse TDP in AP. In a fresh claim, BJP National Secretary and co-incharge of Andhra Pradesh Sunil Deodhar said that 18 TDP MLAs are in touch with the party. He said MLAs are approaching BJP as Chandrababu would be jailed for alleged corruption occurred when he was in the office from 2014 to 2019.
Currently TDP has 23 MLAs out of 175-member Assembly. If TDP loses 18 MLAs to BJP, its number will fall to 5 MLAs and this will result in Chandrababu Naidu losing the Opposition status.
It can be noted that four out of six Rajya Sabha MPs of TDP have been defected into BJP and the TDP legislature party in Rajya Sabha was merged into BJP. Now, the fear of MLAs jumping into BJP is scaring TDP as the party would lose strength and Opposition status in Assembly.
