When the list of censor cuts in Nagarjuna’s Manmadhudu 2 went viral on social media a few days ago, one particular modification had left everyone in a huge shock. The CBFC had objected to a ‘lip-lock’ between heroine Rakul Preet and anchor Jhansi, and asked the makers to blur the kiss.
Manmadhudu 2 has hit theaters worldwide this morning. While the censored version is being screened in India, the Rakul-Jhansi lip-lock is being screened without being edited or blurred in the US. A short video clip of Rakul kissing Jhansi has been going viral on social media since the film’s first show.
In this controversial scene, Rakul is seen grabbing Jhansi much to her shock and even planting a kiss on her lips even as Jhansi is still figuring out what was happening. Needless to say, netizens are blasting the scene and the film’s director Rahul Ravindran for conceiving such an insensitive scene where a woman kisses another woman without her consent.
Not stopping there, the irate netizens are mercilessly trolling Rahul’s wife Chinmayi and his good friend Samantha and questioning their silence and hypocrisy. The netizens are even trending the hashtag #DeeplyDisturbing (used by Samantha in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s controversial interview). However, neither Samantha nor Chinmayi have responded to the criticism till now.
