The Congress party’s attempts to convince Gaddam Vivek, former MP from Peddapalli parliamentary constituency, to stage a comeback into the party failed, as he expectedly chose to defect to the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Vivek, who resigned from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi after he was denied the MP ticket from Peddapalli, joined the BJP in New Delhi in the presence of party national chief and union home minister Amit Shah, Union minister Kishan Reddy, BJP national secretary Ram Madhav and MP Dharmapuri Arvind.
A couple of days ago, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president and MP Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy went to the residence of Vivek and asked him to come back into the Congress and promised that all his interests would be taken care of.
Though it appeared that Vivek sounded a little positive in coming back to Congress, he suddenly flew down to Delhi on Friday morning and quickly jumped into the BJP.
Apparently, he was only waiting for an auspicious day to defect into the saffron party and he chose Sravana Sukravaram for the move.
Vivek, who was an advisor to the state government on inter-state affairs till recently, has been contemplating joining the BJP for quite some time. He has been attacking the TRS since he came out of the party before the elections.
