CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has given a rude shock to senior minister. Jagan has removed Animal Husbandry, Fisheries & Marketing Minister Mopidevi from the post of the in-charge minister of Visakhapatnam district. In substitute to Mopidevi, first-time minister Kanna Babu has been appointed as the in-charge minister for Visakhapatnam. This is seen as a major shock to Mopidevi given that the crucial change is done just 4 months after his appointment as Visakhapatnam’s incharge minister. Mopidevi had conducted only one DRC (District Review Committee) meeting and another review meeting was held with the District Leaders. However, he has been deprived of Vizag Incharge Minister post in a short time.
Mopidevi is senior minister who earlier worked as Excise Minister in Kiran Kumar Reddy’s government and Infrastructure and Investments Minister in late YSR’s government. Naturally, removing him within four months would send wrong signals to party and cadre. In order to pacify him, CM Jagan has now made Mopidevi as the incharge Minister for East Godavari district.
It is said that the move has political motive as well. CM Jagan is of the opinion that Kanna Babu has more grip over Visakhapatnam. Of 15 Assembly constituencies in Visakhapatnam, YCP had won 11 seats while TDP bagged 4 seats in Urban segment. As the local body elections are in fray, Jagan has decided to field Kanna Babu as incharge minister in order to sweep the local body polls. Ahead of local body eelction, CM Jagan has changed the incharge ministers for various districts. But Jagan is giving a special priority to Visakhapatnam and has given the task to Kanna Babu.
