The list for Rajya Sabha candidates of YSRCP has almost come to a conclusion. Incumbent Deputy Chief Minister Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose, Minister of Animal Husbandry, Fisheries & Marketing Mopidevi Venkataramana and Ayodhay Ramireddy from Guntur district are the three names that have been finalised by YS Jaganmohan Reddy for Rajya Sabha.
However, there is slight dilemma among the fourth candidate. While earlier reports had it that Jagan had considered TTD Chairman and his uncle YV Subba Reddy for Rajya Sabha, he seems to have changed his mind after meeting Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani.
As Ambani has requested Jagan Reddy to nominate his friend Parimal Nathwani who has been twice elected for MP (Rajya Sabha) from Jharkhand. Nathwani had first elected to Rajya Sabha in March 2008 and then re-elected in March 2014. As his term coming to an end, Ambani has requested Jagan to nominate Nathwani from Andhra Pradesh.
It is learnt that Jagan has decided to nominate Parimal Nathwani to Rajya Sabha from AP. CM Jagan is of opinion that nominating Nathwani would help the state garner more investments through Reliance and other major corporate companies. However, Jagan had earlier promised Rajya Sabha to YV Subba Reddy who had given up Ongole Lok Sabha seat. He was promised Rajya Sabha by Jagan then. Subsequently, he was also made TTD Chairman.
While Jagan has finalised the three candidates after discussing with party leaders, there is little contemplation among YCP over the fourth candidate. Unless there is any unexpected development, there wouldn’t be any change in the three candidates. It is buzzed that Jagan is positive towards Nathwani. However, he needs to convince YV Subba Reddy before nominating Nathwani. YCP is going to announce its list of Rajya Sabha candidates today or tomorrow. Let’s wait and watch, whether Nathwani or YV Subba Reddy would make it to the final list of candidates.
