15 Years of The heroic female of Tollywood

Starting her career in 2005 with Super film, our Lady superstar Anushka Shetty completes a whopping fifteen years of her film career today. Anushka has redefined how a woman of talent, dedication, beauty and passion should actually be. Ace filmmaker Puri Jagannadh introduced her to the Telugu audience, who was then working as a Yoga instructor in Bangalore, and ever since then, Anushka’s fate has dramatically elevated. The credit definitely goes to her immense talent.

Right from her debut, Anushka managed to grab all the attention with her natural and innocent beauty, flaunting her curves with mass songs in Super. Within a short span, she also bagged SS Rajamouli’s Vikramarkudu, mesmerizing us with her glamour in half sarees. Though Anushka was seen in many movies solely for her beauty like Souryam, Chintakalya Ravi, Don, Lakshyam and Baladur, her hidden enormous talent was kept out to the world only through Arundhati.

Directed by late Kodi Ramakrishna, Anushka proved to be a woman of brilliance. She acted with her expressive eyes, aggression and versatility. The role of Arundathi/Jejamma needed a lot of versatility and Anushka made viewers agree that she was the right choice for the memorable role. For Arundhati film, Anushka also took Filmfare, Santosham and Special jury awards home.

In contrary to Arundhati role, Anushka was immediately seen in a hot and sensual role in Billa, romancing Prabhas under Meher Ramesh direction. Her monokini scene is still fresh and enticing till today. To much surprise, she also stunned us with her remarkable performance as a prostitute in blockbuster film Vedam by Krish. She made us laugh, drool and cry with her multiple talents in just one film. For Vedam, the actress once again went on to bag Filmfare and CineMAA awards as best actress.

Khaleja, Mirchi were some of the decent films and then comes Bahubali series, which made her a superstar across the nation. She transformed much better, again and again. Her talent has been totally showcased and utilized by Rajamouli in Bahubali and as Devasena, Anushka became a dream girl to many. This magnum opus epic action film made the actress break the boundaries of confining into only South. She has now become India’s woman of success.

Later, with Size Zero film, Anushka showed the struggles of a woman with overweight issues and how it affects her personal and love life. The film gained huge popularity for the trending subject. Also, Anushka is one such actress who faced troubles with her weight issues in real life. In 2018, Anushka became the second Indian actress after Sridevi to have a $1 million grosser at the US box office with the modern-day horror thriller, Bhagamathie.

With hard-hitting films, female-oriented and contemporary roles, Anushka, in these fifteen years, contributed so much for the Telugu cinemas. Rudramadevi, Bahubali, Om Namo Venkatesaya, Size Zero, Vedam Nagavalli and Bhagamathie – all these filmed shaped the history by proving her strong female character roles. She is indeed courageous and fearless with her unprecedented characters.

Now, her upcoming film Nishabdam will have Anushka as a mute artist, helmed by Hemanth Madhukar. The film is scheduled to release on 2 April 2020 and it is a thriller film, leaving her fans with high expectations.
