That Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been desperately trying to get closer to the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership at the Centre has been no secret by now.
The way Naidu has been showering praises on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and extending support to every decision taken by the NDA government clearly shows how he has taken a complete U-turn on his political stand.
Yet another example of Naidu’s growing affinity towards the saffron party was his quick condemnation of the attack of Republic TV founder-editor Arnab Goswami, who is known for his blatant pro-BJP stand.
Arnab was attacked by some miscreants when he was returning from his studio to his home along with his wife last night in his car.
The police arrested the attackers and Arnab was quick to make wild allegations against Congress president Sonia Gandhi stating that she had engineered the attack on him because he exposed her son-in-law Robert Vadra’s scam.
While the attack on Arnab was condemned by many journalists, his allegations against Sonia Gandhi were also equally condemned because everybody knows her stature in politics.
But Naidu was quick to condemn the attack on Arnab.
“Strongly condemn the attack on senior journalist Arnab Goswami. I urge all to refrain from resorting to violence and unnecessarily targeting journalists,” he tweeted.
Naidu’s son Lokesh also posted a similar tweet: “Attack on Arnab Goswami is not just an attack on a journalist, but also an attack on the freedom of the press. In a democratic civil society, this is unpardonable.”
Both father and son did not utter a word against Arnab for making very serious allegations against Sonia Gandhi with whom Naidu had moved closely till the last elections with a view to defeating Modi.
Interestingly, Naidu’s close follower A Revanth Reddy, who is presently in Telangana Congress, gave a strong retort to Arnab for making derogatory comments against Sonia.
“Arnab ji is a “psycho communalist” hiding under the facade of journalism. He should be socially boycotted for his comments on Smt. Sonia ji,” Revanth tweeted.
