The AP government has made another sensational decision to ban alcohol. Yesterday, Jagan Sarkar, which increased the prices of liquor by 25 per cent, hiked the prices by another 50 per cent today.
Wine shops opened yesterday at Green and Orange Zones were exempted from lockdown. On the first day, many desperate alcoholics queued up in a bee line at the wine shops.
After 40 days of liquor stores opening there was lot of influx at the shops in an unprecedented way. Apparently Queues were found in every wine shop and surprisingly many females too were part of it.
As a result, the government reportedly received Rs 40 crore in liquor sales on Monday alone. Liquor shops are permitted to open from 11 am to 7 pm and many liquor lovers thronged at the place before the shops opened.
Most people buy three or four different brands, rather than one type. There are officially a total of 3,468 liquor stores in AP. Of them, 2,345 were sold by liquor stores.
On the contrary, Jagan led government has attempted to put a ban on alcohol. This has consequently lead to a massive increase in alcohol prices in view of yesterday’s conditions.
The government has increased the prices of liquor by 75 per cent and the inflated price has come into force. Presumably, the AP government plans to cut liquor stores by another 15 percent by the end of this month.
