After a long wait, the makers of Kishore Tirumala’s Ram Pothineni, Nivetha Pethuraj, Malvika Sharma and Amritha Aiyer starrer RED have finally announced a tentative release for the film.
The Telugu remake of the 2019 Tamil film Thadam was supposed to hit screens in April but release was pushed due to the lockdown. During the lockdown, when there were speculations that it might hit OTT, the makers had made it clear that they will wait for theatres to reopen. Now, the latest is that RED will hit screens come Sankranti 2021.
In an interview, Ram Potineni had said, “There were few OTT platforms which approached us with a handsome deal. But we refused to release it on OTT as we intend to give a fine movie watching experience to our audience. Red is a story written based on an investigation. It is going to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller with all mass elements. Red is meant for the big screens and we will wait until the situation is normal.”
On Sunday, Ram took to social media to update about the film’s release and wrote, “This Sankranthi is going to be super special! Excited to celebrate Sankranthi with you all after ages.. #Devdas .. #Maska……………& now #RedTheFilm ..see you all on the BIG SCREEN! Love..#RAPO #HappyDussehra my peeps” (sic) Hebbah Patel will be seen in a special song in the film.
