MS Raju reminisces about his maiden production venture ”Sathruvu”

Filmmaker MS Raju took to Twitter to reminisce about his maiden production venture Sathruvu, which went on floors exactly 31 years ago. Directed by Kodi Ramakrishna, the film starred Daggubati Venkatesh and Vijayashanthi in the lead roles.
”1989 Oct 27th is the most important day of my life. The day our ‘Sumant Art Production’ was founded in Madras. With a strong relationship with director Kodi Ramakrishna, beautiful friendship with hero Venkatesh and good association with heroine Vijayashanthi, we had begun shooting for Sathruvu,” he tweeted.


Sathruvu narrates the story of an advocate Ashok who begins to practice with his uncle decides to take revenge against the goons who kills his uncle. Venkatesh and Vijayashanthi played the lead cast, while Kota Srinivasa Rao, Captain Raju, Vijay Kumar, Jaya Prakash Reddy, Anand Raj, Brahmanandam, Babu Mohan and Sangeetha, among others, are seen in other pivotal roles. The film is among the most successful films of Venky’s career. While before Sathruvu, Venkatesh, received a critical claim for his performance in films like Bobbili Raja, Prema, Varasudochhadu and Swarna Kamalam, the action crime-thriller helped him reach out to the audience.

MS Raju has produced movies named Police Lockup (1993), Street Fighter (1994), Devi (1999), Devi Putrudu (2001), Nee Sneham (2002), Okkadu (2003), Varsham (2004), Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana (2005), Pournami (2006), Aata (2007), Vaana (2008) and Maska (2009) under Sumanth Art Productions.
