It is known that there is a dispute between the government and the teachers over the issue of transfers of government teachers across the state. Teachers are demanding that web-counselling on transfers need to be stopped as it is not being done properly.
However, the government says it is conducting web counselling for transparency in transfers. It was in this context that the teachers organized the ‘Chalo Secretariat’ rally today. In this order, the police prevented teachers protesting at Prakasam Barrage.
Thousands of the teachers were arrested by the police and the leader of opposition Chandra Babu condemned the act by the government. Naidu said the AP was implementing anti-public policies and condemned the illegal arrests of teachers.
He accused the government of harassing teachers in the name of web counselling without solving their problems. He was outraged that the YCP leaders were interfering in the transfers of teachers.
Chandrababu said that Jagan had insulted the teachers and demanded that the CM issue a public apology to the teachers and immediately release the arrested teachers and drop the illegal cases filed against the teachers.
