Controversies surround KCR’s favourite temple


What is happening in Yadagirigutta temple? The temple, which CM KCR promised would be modeled as the second Tirupati, is causing controversy after controversy. Initially, there were questions about the quality of construction. Later, there were questions about the Hindu agamas being set aside while constructing the temple. After that there was a controversy over etching of KCR’s image on one of the pillars of the temple.

Now, the differences over rituals and traditions are threatening to blow out into a major controversy. The Sthanacharya of the temple Sandugula Raghavacharya has resigned over the errors in performing rituals and practicing traditions in the temple. Raghavacharya has serious differences with the chief priest Nallantighal Lakshminarasimhacharya. Both the acharyas had fiery arguments over this issue following which Raghavacharya has sent in his resignation. Though the temple authorities tried to patch up the differences, Raghavacharya was unrelenting. On Wednesday, his resignation had to be accepted.

Meanwhile, in another development, Ramprasad, a priest in the Yadadri temple was removed from service for performing black magic and duping devotees in the name of performing special poojas. A spate of controversies is besmirching the prestige of this important temple of late.
