The demand to provide reservation for the poor people in Upper Caste is an old one. The Upper Caste representatives have been meeting the concerned officials to give a representation.
The Telangana government led by Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao has decided to provide a reservation of 10 percent. The government issued the orders to implement the reservation.
Economically Weaker Section(EWS) reservation for the Upper Caste will be provided for Education, Jobs, and employment opportunities. It applies to Educational institutions, both aided, non-aided.
It has to be noted that CM KCR in January has announced that the state will implement a 10 percent reservation for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). He held a crucial meeting with the key officials and took the call.
“The government decided to implement a 10 percent reservation for EWS. There is already an existing reservation of 50 percent for the weaker sections and coupled with EWS, the total reservations would go up to 60 percent,” KCR said in January.
Before his decision, the upper caste communities in the state met the Chief Minister and informed him about the issues faced by the poor students, who are finding it difficult to get seats in big institutions and getting jobs as well.
In the orders issued, the government mentioned the reservations will be implemented as provided by the Indian Constitution, The One Hundred and Third Amendment Act, 2019 provided reservation for economically weaker sections, the order reads.
