The recently published CAG report suggests that the state of Andhra Pradesh is very close to a huge financial crisis, one that the state hasn’t ever seen before. The YSRCP government has taken a loan of Rs. 75,000 Crores in just the last 10 months and the prospects of the state’s revenue going up are very slim.
While the financial situation of Andhra Pradesh continues to only deteriorate, the new GO passed by the AP government states that the government has allocated nearly Rs. 6.75 Crores for the acquisition of a new convoy, comprising of 10 vehicles.
While it has not explicitly been stated that the convoy is for the Chief Minister, it is very evident from the fact that these 10 vehicles are going to be bulletproof and high end. For who else would such a convoy be used for?
It is a well-known fact that CM Jagan purchased a new convoy as soon as he assumed the post of the Chief Minister of the state of AP. Apart from that, he uses a separate convoy whenever he visits Delhi. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s been two years since he purchased the old convoy, or maybe it’s a completely reason, whatever it may be in the end, fact remains that the government is daring enough to allot Rs. 6.75 Crores for a new convoy, amidst a major financial crunch.
A lot of people have expressed shock this announcement was made. It will now be interesting to see how the AP government plans to clear it’s debt, while still continuing to be so extravagant about spending money.
