‘Maha Janata Curfew’ in Maharashtra

Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray said that no lockdown will be imposed in the state. However, he said that lockdown restrictions will be imposed from 8 pm tomorrow in the wake of rising corona cases in the state. The CM announced that Section 144 was being imposed for 15 days across the state. He said that it should be addressed as Maha Janata Curfew. He said that the hospital beds, and oxygen is scarce.

CM said that he had asked the central government to supply oxygen cylinders immediately. He said that 3 kg of wheat will be given to the poor and financial assistance will be given to auto drivers. “From tomorrow, all types of public and private institutions, prayer halls, theaters, parks, and gyms across the state will be closed till May 1,” he said. Thackeray said that petrol banks, banking companies would operate and only parcels would be allowed from hotels and restaurants.
