Corona Devi temple created to protect citizens from Covid pandemic


The deadly outbreak of the novel Coronavirus is the main concern to India now. While the news cases have been coming down gradually, the new casualties have been increasing over the past few days.In the wake of the pandemic scare, the ‘Corona Devi temple was created in Tamil Nadu. The temple was created to protect people from the deadly Covid virus. The identity was carved out of granite.

Kamatchipuri Adhinam has set up the temple. Special prayers would be offered to the deity for 48 days. After the 48 days of pooja, Maha Yagam would be performed for the deity.Having dedicated temples for epidemics is not new in Tamil Nadu. Earlier, Plague Mariamman Temple was set up in Coimbatore, with a belief that people will be saved from the plague and other diseases.

On the other hand, the Tamil Nadu government has announced a statewide lockdown to tackle the virus spread. The lockdown is active in the state. Shops and others services would be permitted in the state between 6 AM to 10 AM.After the permitted time, everything will be shut across the state. However, the government permitted essential services, medical services, and other services during the lockdown period.
