Who will be the next Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh? What is in YS Jagan’s mind? Who does he prefer? These are fast emerging as the hotly debated topics among the political circles, government employees and especially those from the secretarial staff. As of now, there are no easy answers.
The present CS Sameer Sharma came to the state barely ahead of his superannuation in July. His term was to end by November –end. However, the State Government has secured a six month extension for him. After the first extension he can get another extension and could be the CS till the end of 2022. But, if sources are to be believed, CM YS Jagan is already scouting for the next CS.
Usually, a senior IAS officer with vast experience in the affairs of the state is appointed as the Chief Secretary. But other important considerations may come into play and the government might appoint someone whom it considers to be useful.
As of now, senior leaders Ajay Sahni, Reddy Subramahnyam and Satish Chandra are in the queue. But all these three officials have just one more year of service. Jagan may not go for them. Sources say that Jagan may root for Srilakshmi. But the biggest problem for her is that she has come from the Telangana cadre. Also, cases are pending against her. It remains to be seen who Jagan will appoint as his next CS.
