Nara Lokesh will now take a leaf our of Jagan’s book of political tricks. Yes. He will now imitate YS Jagan and take out a padayatra across the length and breadth of Andhra Pradesh. Like Jagan, he would camp in the villages and stay there for night. Like YS Jagan , he too will try to understand the situation in the villages and get a firsthand information about the problems of the people.
If sources are to be believed, the yatra will be taken out in the month of August. The month of August has been selected as April and May would be too hot. Sources say that the yatra would be held throughout the year with about three or four breaks. According to sources, the yatra would break all the records of previous yatras both in terms of time and length of coverage.
The yatra aims to project Nara Lokesh as a powerful and influential alternative to YS Jagan. Lokesh image was severely dented due his electoral loss in the 2019 elections. He was defeated by the YSRCP by a significant margin. The yatra, the TDP feels, would be able to restore Lokesh Babu’s image.
It may be recalled that the padayatras have been effective instruments for politicians to come to power. For instance, YSR, Chandrababu Naidu, YS Jagan and YS Sharmila have all taken out long padayatras to gain political power. Will Lokesh’s Padayatra too lead him to gain political power?
