The elections in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh are underway and the sixth phase of elections has begun today. Under this phase, as many as 10 districts in the largest state will face the elections. Out of all the candidates running the polls, all eyes are on one candidate.
The candidate is none other than Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He has been contesting the Gorakhpur Lok Sabha constituencies since the late nineties. However, he had decided to run the polls from Gorakhpur Urban constituencies, which fall under the Gorakhpur limits.
Marking his first MLA elections, the mock-turned-politician is not leaving any stone unturned to campaign for the party. He had addressed a spree of meetings and gatherings to make sure that the BJP wins the elections with a record majority.
Having expressed his confidence in winning the elections, Yogi Adityanath said that the win in the general elections should be a record for the Bharatiya Janata Party.
With Yogi Adityanath entering the MLA elections, everyone started to understand the plus and minus behind his daring decision. While the majority of the people are supporting the Chief Minister, it might not be a cakewalk for him.
BJP and Yogi Adityanath might face a tough fight in the Gorakhpur elections given the fact that a family member of another prominent leader is running the polls. Subhawati Shukla, wife of former BJP leader Upendra Shukla had joined the Samajwadi Party.
Alleging that the BJP party did not give preference and was ignored by the party after her husband breathed his last, Shukla had shifted her loyalties to SP. We have to wait and see if she can give a tough fight to Yogi Adityanath.
Upendra Shukla was a known face in Gorakhpur and he had worked with the BJP for more than four decades. These factors might work in favor of his wife who is all set to try her luck. Will these factors help her to reach her goal? We have to wait and see.
On the other hand, Gorakhpur has been a stronghold and fortress for the BJP for several years and Yogi Adityanath had taken forward the legacy of BJP in the constituency. The BJP cadre is hoping that Yogi will have a win with a record margin.
