goof ups galore in Minister murder attempt case, cops tie selves in knots

The case of a gang of persons plotting to murder Excise Minister of Telangana Srinivas Goud is getting curiouser and curiouser by each passing day. It is now turning out that all those arrested in this case were diehard TRS supporters and close associates of the minister himself. They have plotted to kill the minister as he was posing problems to them by blocking the release of money and other benefits.

More importantly, there are several loopholes in the police theory. For instance, the police initially said that the guns meant to kill the minister were purchased from UP. Now, they claim that they do not know about the sourcing of the gun. Similarly, why did the ‘plotters’ give Rs 15 crore as supari to a local gang of professional killers, when gangs from Bihar and UP take just Rs 2 crore to commit a murder and scoot away? The police also claimed that there was an altercation between supari killers Hyder Ali and Faooq and the gang led by one Nagaraju near Suchitra. But, this was not recorded in any CCTV footage and nor was it reported by any media house.

Further, sources say that minister Srinivas Goud perhaps knew about the whole plot and hence did not visit his constituency for quite some time. The Minister, who is known to go back to Mahabubnagar at every available opportunity, has avoided going to his office in Hyderabad and residence in Mahabubnagar, say sources. Crime experts claim that despite knowing about the murder plot, the minister did not lodge a complaint with the police.

More curiously, the police report on the whole issue has several glaring errors. The report repeatedly mentions the excise minister as Srinivas Reddy instead of Srinivas Goud. It is also not clear in the police files as to whether Farooq is an illegal arms dealer or a hired killer. The BJP has demanded an impartial probe into the whole plot and wants the police to unravel the ‘conspiracy.’
