He has been appointed the president of the Telangana unit of the party. That was a full nine months ago. He was specially chosen by the party supremo as there is not an iota of doubt about his loyalty to the party. But, nine months on, he is yet to take oath of office as the Telangana president of the party. He has not even bothered to constitute the party’s state committee.
Yes. We are talking about Telangana TDP president Bakkani Nasimhulu. This former MLA is a diehard TDP man and is loyal to the core. Hence Chandrababu Naidu picked him for the party’s state president’s post after another trusted aide LV Ramana left the party and joined the TRS. Bakkani, a Dalit from undivided Mahabubnagar, did accept the post.
But, nine months on, Bakkani comes to the NTR Bhavan in Jubilee Hills everyday without fail. He sits in his chamber and goes home. He has not formally taken oath and nor has he constituted the state committee. In the past nine months, he has not made even a single attempt to meet party supremo Chandrababu Naidu. There is no activity whatsoever and practically no programme was organized in the past nine months.
The once mighty TDP has now become a former shadow of itself. The TDP’s headquarters now sports a haunted look with no one coming to the party office. The staff has not been paid salaries for the past several months. Even Chandrababu Naidu has stopped visiting the office. He has not gone to the office in several months. The Telangana state president Bakkani is not heard, not seen and his presence is not felt.
