One group that is sulking and is deeply unhappy with the latest cabinet reshuffle in Andhra Pradesh is the powerful Reddy community. The community feels that it is made to suffer because Jagan belongs to the same community. To avoid being branded as a pro-Reddy party, he is trying to limit the number of Reddys in Jagan’s cabinet.
Already, there is discontent over ignoring the Kamma, Brahmin and Vysya communities. Vysya minister Vellampalli Srinivas, Kamma minister Kodali Nani have been dropped in the latest reshuffle. As for the Brahmins, there is no representation in the earlier cabinet too. But, even Reddys are unhappy over the paltry representation to their community in the latest reshuffle.
The present cabinet has five Reddys including YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The emphasis is more on the BCs and SCs. While the idea of weaning the BCs away from the TDP is laudable, it is clear that Reddys are under-represented. This has given rise to deep dissatisfaction as Reddys have not only owned up the party during the tough times when the party was in the opposition and spent huge sums to sustain the party.
Reddy MLAs like Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, Katasani Rambhupal Reddy, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, Ananta Venkat Rami Reddy, Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy and Anam Ramanarayana Reddy have been denied minister posts. Most of these MLAs are sulking and are deeply disappointed at being side-lined.
