Ex-minister Jupalli Krishna Rao skips TRS plenary

The TRS plenary was a gala affair. There were 30 different kinds of recipes on the platter for those who attended. But despite the mouth-watering spread on the table, there were some, who chose not to attend the party’s plenary. One such prominent leader, who did not attend the TRS plenary was former minister and senior leader Jupalli Krishna Rao of Kollapur in undivided Mahabubnagar district.

Jupalli has been marginalized in the party and the leadership does not even bother about addressing his concerns. An unhappy Jupalli recently met equally disgruntled Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Tummala Nageswara Rao of Khammam. He has given enough indications that he could leave the TRS. Both the BJP and the Congress are vying to invite him into the party. But, he has so far not made up his mind. He did not attend the plenary of the party, where the 21st foundation day was celebrated and the party’s national plans were unveiled.

After having lost the 2018 assembly elections in his home turf of Kollapur in former Mahabubnagar district, Jupalli’s politica graph is on the downslide. With the Congress candidate Hashavardhan Reddy, who defeated him, joining the ruling TRS, Jupally’s importance has come down.

Even in the civic body elections held later, the party did not give tickets to his supporters. So, he had to put up rebel candidates on the Forward Block ticket and get them elected. However, even after this show of strength, nothing changed for him in the TRS. Since then, he has been biding his time and is looking for the right time and the right party to join. He is quite clear that KCR would not give him a party ticket in 2023.
