The Akkineni heroes are easily the most inconsistent of the lot in Tollywood as they deliver good hits which do very well at the box office and immediately deliver a disastrous film. Irrespective of his market, King Nagarjuna is always experimenting with his scripts. But this year has not turned out well for the Akkineni heroes. At the beginning of this year, they arrived with ‘Bangarraju’ and it did good business at the box office despite not having great content.
Despite the low ticket rates in Andhra Pradesh, the movie restored the investment through proper planning. It did not get huge profits but did not end up in losses as the whole pre-release business was just 39 crores. In the summer, Naga Chaitanya decided to score a hit with ‘Thank You’. Directed by Vikram Kumar and produced by Dil Raju, this movie had a lot going for it.
But the movie ended up disappointing the audience. It failed to create any buzz and did a pre-release business of just 24 crores. But the movie collected just 4 crores in theatres thereby bagging a loss of 20 crores. Now, Nagarjuna’s ‘The Ghost’ came out on October 5th and faced a disastrous result.
The movie did a pre-release business of 22 crores and it failed to recover at least half of it in theatres. Analysts claim that it resulted the buyers in a loss of 15-16 crores collectively. With both Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya giving such huge losses, people are not able to know what Akhil is going to do with his ‘Agent’. Hope he brings some energy in the Akkineni fanbase who are disappointed a lot this year.
Also, both Nagarjuna’s and Naga Chaitanya’s Hindi films ‘Brahmastra’ and ‘Laal Singh Chadda’ resulted in humongous losses.
