Will Punjab Model Work For AAP In Gujarat?

Delhi-based Aam Aadmi Party started its step to expand its footprint in other states by winning the Punjab elections. The party won the elections by defeating Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party in Punjab. Though AAP worked hard on this, the anti-farmer image worked against BJP in the elections.

Now the party wants to directly lock horns with the BJP in the home state of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah Gujarat. Aam Aadmi Party wants to try its luck in the upcoming general elections and even announced the candidate.

Addressing the media in Ahmedabad, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that Isudan Gadhvi is the Chief Minister candidate for the general elections. Talking about the reason behind selecting him, the AAP chief said that the party leaders picked him, and based on the votes he picked him.

What he did in Gujarat is the same template used in Punjab. He asked the party leaders to decide the person who should be the Chief Minister’s face. How Bhagwant Singh Mann was picked as the Punjab Chief Minister candidate, Isudan Gadhvi is also picked as the Gujarat Chief Minister candidate.

Another thing also worked for Isudan Gadhvi which is the caste equations. Though Gujarat is one of the developed states in the nation, the state has one of the biggest OBC population, and keeping this in mind he might have been picked as per the experts.

However, the situation in Punjab and Gujarat is different. The Bharatiya Janata Party has been in a strong position in Gujarat due to various reasons. We have to wait and see if the Punjab model would work for AAP in Gujarat or not.
