Covid changed the world films used to be. Cross-pollination came into existence and actors and technicians are working in other languages. Producers are bankrolling films in other languages. South producers are making films in the north while the big producers in Bollywood are coming down south.
Following the same trend, one of the big producers in the Telugu industry Dil Raju is entering the Tamil industry with a bang. In his maiden Tamil production, he is bankrolling Varisu starring Thalapathy Vijay. The film is slated for a grand release for the Pongal season. Varisu will be released in Telugu as Varasudu.
Weeks before the release of the film, the makers shared interesting details about Varisu. The news is that the script was not written for Vijay but it went to the star after a few stars could not do it. Producer Dil Raju said that as per the information.
As per the information, Dil Raju gave an interview with a popular outlet. During the interview, Dil Raju shared an interesting anecdote about the upcoming film and said that it went to five stars before going to Thalapathy Vijay finally.
Dil Raju said the Varisu script was written for Superstar Mahesh Babu. But he could not do it as he already has two big projects in hand. Other heroes were also approached but the script failed to get a star to sign it from Telugu.
Other stars like Icon Star Allu Arjun, Mega Power Star Ram Charan Tej, and first Pan-India star Prabhas were also approached for the script. But none of them said yes. However, there is no information on why the stars could not sign it.
Then the script went to Thalapathy Vijay and the star hero said yes. This paved the way for the Tamil debut of director Vamshi Paidipally and producer Dil Raju.
But his interview also raised a question on what made the Telugu stars say no to the script and made Vihay give his nod when the makers knocked on his doors with the script.
Vamshi Paidipally wrote the script along with Hari and Ashishor Solomon and is helming the film. Sri Venkateswara Creations and PVP Cinema banners are bankrolling the film. Rashmika Mandanna is playing the leading lady in Varisu.
