Prior to the pan-Indian movies arriving on the scene, Stylish Star Allu Arjun wanted to gain a big market in Tamil Nadu. He possesses a huge fanbase in Malayalam and his films do extremely well in Telugu states and Karnataka. He planned to make a Tamil-Telugu bilingual long back and even announced a movie under Lingusamy’s direction which did not materialize.
Not many know that Allu Arjun is an admirer of Vetrimaaran’s work right from the beginning. The critically acclaimed filmmaker is known for his hard-hitting films like ‘Aadukulam’, ‘Polladhavan’, ‘Asuran’, ‘Vada Chennai’, ‘Visaranai’ and many others. After the super hit result of ‘Adukulam’ back in 2011, Allu Arjun reportedly flew to Chennai and proposed the idea of working together if the script falls in place.
Vetrimaaran already had ‘Vada Chennai’ script at that time and Dhanush was fixed as the lead right from the beginning. The director asked Bunny to do a powerful character in the film and the star hero declined it. Apparently, Allu Arjun wanted to make a solo hero film with Vetrimaaran and didn’t want to share the screen space with another big hero.
This is reportedly the main reason why Allu Arjun declined Vetrimaaran’s offer though he liked the script. As we know, ‘Vada Chennai’ which was released in 2018 became a huge hit and is termed a cult classic by many Tamilians. Vetrimaaran made changes to the role offered to Bunny and it fell into the hands of Ameer. This information was revealed by Vetrimaaran himself when he came to Hyderabad for promoting his latest film ‘Vidhudhala Part 1’. The genius director also revealed that discussions are currently going on with NTR and they may end up working together soon. Currently, he is expected to work with Suriya and also has ‘Vidhudhalai Part 2’ and ‘Vada Chennai 2’ as well.
