The Kerala Story which was released as a small venture went on to become one of the profitable ventures in recent times. The film attracted many controversies and grabbed everyone’s attention. There were also a few comparisons between The Kerala Story and The Kashmir Files due to similar box office performances.
Besides huge collections, The Kerala Story also faced severe criticism. Film personalities like Naseeruddin Shah, Prakash Raj,Kamal Haasan and few others slammed the film and said that the film spread nothing but fake narratives. A few celebrities across the languages slammed the film and the makers.
Actress Adah Sharma who became a big star overnight with the film had reacted to the criticism. In her recent interview, Adah Sharma was asked for her response. Reacting to this, the actress said that she rejoices at the freedom of speech that is prevalent in the country. Adah said that the film can be discredited and many of them targeted the film without even watching it.
Adding further, Adah Sharma said that the beauty of the country is such that anyone can say anything and people who have different ideologies can co-exist without any issues. Famous people expressed their opinion on this. But the audiences picked the film despite all this.
“I rejoiced at the freedom of speech we have in our country, where without even watching a film, it can be discredited, labeled and publicly be ripped apart. Anyone can say anything about anybody and can continue to live unharmed; that’s the beauty of Bharat. I love my country!,” the actress said.
The Kerala Story talks about the alleged love jihad issue under which girls are converted and sent to other countries. Initially, the makers said that it is the story of over 32,000 girls. However, the numbers were later changed to three girls. Adah Sharma is one of the lead actors. The Kerala Story is directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah.It stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani in the lead roles. The film earned more than Rs 300 crores globally.
