Mythri Movie Makers, a leading production house in Tollywood, has expanded its portfolio by venturing into film distribution. While the production company is known for delivering big-budget films like “Salaar” and “Hanu-Man,” their recent foray into distribution with “Operation Valentine” proved unsuccessful.
Undeterred, Mythri Movie Makers has set its sights on the promising Malayalam film industry. Following the success of Karthikeya, son of renowned director S.S. Rajamouli, acquiring the Telugu dubbing rights for the Malayalam hit “Premalu,” Mythri Movie Makers has secured the Telugu rights for another Malayalam blockbuster, “Manjummel Boys.”
“Manjummel Boys,” a survival thriller based on true events from 2006, has become a phenomenon in the Kerala film industry. Despite its relatively low budget of 14 crores, the film achieved remarkable success, exceeding the 100 crore mark within weeks of release. Directed by Chidambaram and featuring Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, and Balu Varghese in lead roles, the film’s acquisition by Mythri Movie Makers marks a significant development. Reports suggest Mythri acquired the rights for a very reasonable sum of 2 crores.
This strategic move by Mythri Movie Makers highlights the growing trend of collaboration between the Telugu and Malayalam film industries. By capitalizing on the success of Malayalam films with Telugu audiences, Mythri positions itself to tap into a wider market and diversify its revenue streams. The Telugu-dubbed version of “Manjummel Boys” is expected to be released soon, potentially garnering significant interest among Telugu moviegoers.
