What wins at the box office is the biggest question that taunts our filmmakers all the time. Despite the criticism from critics, films like Kabir Singh often end up making crores, while films that got rave reviews fail to touch even the 50 crore club. Other day is another example of such.
Lagaan fame director Asutosh Gowariker has come with the film “Panipat”, that deals with the story of the Last battle of Panipat, where the Marathas collapsed completely to Ahmed Shah Durrani. The film has Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt in historical roles. And then we have Karthik Aryan’s Pati Patni Aur Woh featuring Ananya Panday and Bhumi Pednekar in spicy roles. Both these movies released other day.
While Panipat made 3.75 crores ‘nett’ collection from the box office on first day, Pati Patni Aur Woh registered 9.10 crores ‘nett’ from Bollywood theatres. That explains, how glamour and adult content are impressing the audience and making them rush to theatres rather history and reality.
Also, lack of super hit songs in Panipat is a big let down, while the average songs of Pati Patni Aur Woh filled with heavy-duty glamour of heroines are appeasing the masses.
