Emily O’Connor, a passenger on Thomas Cook Airlines, has faced an unprecedented situation on March 2. The young lady was asked to cover up her crop top and if not, will be detained from the boarding plane.
The passenger brought the issue into notice through her social media account where she informed that she was flying from Birmingham in the United Kingdom to the Canary Islands, on March 2. But the Thomas Cook airlines staff stopped her and warned that her outfit was offensive and inappropriate to travel on board. She was seen wearing a spaghetti strapped crop top and high-waist pants.
Emily also said that it is surprising to learn how she passed the security process without any issue but had to face an ordeal right before getting into the plane. She was asked to change her clothes to which she called the whole experience as sexist and misogynistic.
The lady has even asked other passengers on the plane if they are uncomfortable looking at her. However, no one replied. The situation is said to have left her deeply upset. Another passenger from the plane shouted at the woman, “Shut up, you pathetic woman. Put on a jacket”. Emily said that crew members did not take any actions towards the man who used foul language.
The airlines’ management replied to her complaint – “We are sorry that we upset Ms O’Connor. It’s clear we could have handled the situation better. In common with most airlines, we have an appropriate attire policy. This applies equally to men and women of all ages without discrimination. Our crews have the difficult task of implementing that policy and don’t always get it right”.
