A two-judge bench in Telangana High Court comprising Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy heard Public interest litigation (PIL) on Covid-19 situations.
During the hearing, the HC found fault with ambulances carrying Covid-19 patients not being allowed to enter the state from neighboring states and questioned with what authority they were stopped.
Is this fair? Is this humanity? Who gave the oral orders to stop that ambulance with coronavirus patients?”, the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court asked the AG.
The HC had also blasted the state government for imposing statewide lockdown all of a sudden making it difficult for the people belonging from other states to return to their respective states.
“Under what authority are ambulances being denied entry into Telangana? At a time when COVID-19 is playing havoc with the people, how could the state deny permission to ambulances? Allow all ambulances freely into Telangana,” the court said.
The High Court termed denying entry for ambulances that are coming into Telangana for treatment unconstitutional and questioned how come people coming for treatment be stopped.
