Top producer Allu Aravind has made some key comments on the film industry. As we know, people got stuck in their homes for the past two years due to the pandemic. Despite an occasional theatrical release, many films did not get released during that time in theatres. People became distant towards the big screens and they got used to watching interesting content like web-series and films on OTT platforms.
Due to this the audience are not showing interest in walking into theatres even though new films are hitting the screens every week. This has become a huge headache for the producers and distributors. Also, people are loving the thought of watching the film in OTT platform within 2-3 weeks of its release.
Allu Arjun said that the ticket prizes need to come down and people need to distance themselves from OTT platforms. The lesson the industry needs to learn is that the ticket rates need to be reduced and they make a deal with OTT platforms that the films will be premiered after a month or two. He added that the heroes need to promote their film aggressively. He gave the example of a big star hero dancing on stage which is against his usual style just to promote his movie. The main cast needs to actively promote the film along with the director. As we know, Mahesh danced on stage at the success celebrations of ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’ in Kurnool.
The increase in ticket rates worked well for movies like ‘RRR’ and ‘KGF – 2’ as people were crazy about them. But the same ticket price hike did not work out for ‘Acharya’ and the movie ended up being a bigger disaster than expected. ‘F3’ released without ticket price hikes and ‘Major’ team kept the rates even below the allowed level to attract a larger audience.
