‘Amaravati doesn’t have any legal sanctity’

After kickstarting a huge storm with his statements on Amaravati not being a safe place to be Andhra capital, YSRCP minister Botsa Satyanarayana has raked up a new storm, again on Amaravati.

The state minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development said in a presser on Saturday that there is no official gazette notification on Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Botsa said that Amaravati doesn’t have any legal sanctity as the previous TDP government didn’t even notify 29 villages in Amaravati as part of the capital city in the state gazette, thus failing to give Amaravati the official capital status.

Though the AP Capital Region Development Authority Act 2014 was enacted and published in AP gazette, the capital has to be notified in the government gazette and only then it gets legal and constitutional sanctity. “Not even a notification was issued declaring Amaravati as Andhra Pradesh capital,” Botsa said.
