Wednesday happens to be the 36th day of the protest by Amaravati farmers against the shift of capital. Now that the ‘Three Capitals’ bill got Assembly approval, the farmers have knocked the AP High Court doors.
About 37 farmers have gathered and filed writ petitions in the court and challenged YSRCP government’s new decision to have ‘Three Capitals.’ One more writ petition is also filed regarding shelving of Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA). The farmers have included the centre, CM YS Jagan, ministers Botsa, Buggana and chief secretary as the respondents in their petitions.
In their petition, farmers claimed that only on the assurance of previous government that there will be only one capital in the state, they have offered their land for capital construction. With ‘Three Capitals’ and Amaravati becoming Legislature capital, the place will lose its value and their sacrifice of lands will go waste.
The farmers also added that the YSRCP government is deliberately changing the capital with bad intentions and taking political vengeance against TDP which is ultimately affecting the farmers.
