Amaravati farmers, who are protesting against AP state government’s decision to shift the capital to Vizag, have now targeted Tollywood. A group of protesters have reached Hyderabad and started protesting in front of Telugu Film Chamber. The farmers are holding placards demanding the film industry personalities to support in favour of Amaravati farmers. They demanded that the Tollywood personalities should open their mouths and talk against the ‘gross’ injustice meted out to Amaravati.
The protesters – both male and female – have raised slogans inside chamber and vented out their anger. After protesting inside chamber for longtime and raising slogans, they have done a sit-on protest in chamber, followed by a rally outside Film Chamber. The protesters questioned why Tollywood personalities who get good revenue from Andhra are not speaking out on the key issue.
Learning about their protest, police have stepped in and ensured that it won’t take violent turn. Due to the rally, the traffic outside Film Chamber also hit causing inconvenience to the commuters. Looks like, more protests from Amaravati are in offing in Telangana and Tollywood is the first industry which may get affected with such protests and agitations. Also, one has to wait and see, what would be the affect of Amaravati agitation on the collections, revenues of forthcoming films.
