Amaravati to become international issue?

Even as the YSR Congress government in Andhra Pradesh is making all preparations to create three capital cities for the state with executive capital at Visakhapatnam, the Telugu Desam Party and its friends are making desperate attempts to sustain the issue.

Former Union minister and Bharatiya Janata Party’s Rajya Sabha member Y S Chowdary alias Sujana Chowdary, who was a key player in the TDP till a few months ago, has gone to the extent of saying that Amaravati capital issue had already become a national issue and very soon, it is going to be an international issue.

“The Centre will not keep quiet if the funds released by the Centre for the capital go waste. It will interfere in the issue at an appropriate time,” Sujana warned the Jagan Mohan Reddy government, adding that the BJP leadership was watching the developments and had already taken a political decision in this regard.

One fails to understand how Sujana wants to make Amaravati as an international issue. Does he mean President of the United States of America Donald Trump or Singapore government would interfere in the affairs of Andhra Pradesh and stall the capital shift?

When the Centre itself has made it clear that the capital city is a state subject, how can the international community interfere in the issue? Well, Sujana should have explained it better.

The BJP accused the Jagan government of behaving like a Coronavirus patient, taking unilateral decisions without understanding the people’s sentiments.

“As many as 50 people died of anguish in Amaravati in the last three months, after Jagan decided to shift the capital to Visakhapatnam. The people will not quite, if the government continues to act stubbornly,” he said.
