Motorola handsets from Moto Z-series were among the first to get Android 7.0 Nougat update, but they are yet to get the latest version of the operating system while many devices from other OEMS (Original Equipment Manufacturers) have received it. Now, it has emerged that the Android 7.1.1 Nougat version may soon come to the Moto Z and Moto Z Play devices.
The Lenovo-owned company has started soak test of Android 7.1.1 Nougat for the Moto Z, taking the software version to NPL.26.107, according to AndroidHeadlines. It comes a few days after the Moto Z Play devices in Brazil received sock test for the latest version.
Motorola has the tradition of conducting a soak test via a few handsets before rolling out to the public to ensure that the final version works smooth.
A dozen Motorola handsets, namely the Moto Z, Moto Z Force, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Droid Force, Moto Z Play, Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen) aka Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X Force, Droid Turbo 2, Moto G4, and Moto G4 Plus, have been updated to Android 7.0 Nougat. However, the Moto X Play, Moto G4 Play and Droid Maxx 2 that are eligible for the OS are yet to get it.
Motorola has confirmed on its official blog that the Moto X Play will receive the Android 7.1.1 Nougat version instead of the Android 7.0. It didn’t reveal the exact date for its release but it should happen soon, perhaps in the next few days. The other two devices — Moto G4 Play and Droid Maxx 2 – too may get the latest version of the firmware.
