Another TDP family eclipsing in Kurnool

The Telugu Desam Party, which was once quite powerful in Kurnool district, is on a free fall. Its credibility is nose-diving fast and the tried and tested leaders are now proving ineffective in putting the party back on rail.

To add to the TDP’s woes, some of the very senior hands are slowly sliding into retirement mode. Some other leaders have made secret agreements with the YSRCP leaders and are focusing on their businesses. Yet other leaders are suing for peace as they have cases to fear. Thus, the TDP has become quite weak.

The situation in Dhone is far too bad. This was for years a borough of the KE family. KE Prabhakar had won Dhone in 1999. KE Krishna Murthy, the elder brother, had won in 2009 from Dhone. Since then, Dhone has been their citadel. However, in the 2014 elections, Buggana Rajendranath of the YSRCP broke their rule and won as an MLA. In 2019 too, the same story was repeated. Both times, KE Family’s KE Pratap contested and lost the election.

Since then, Pratap has been keeping a low profile and has ignored the constituency. He has not visited the constituency and did not hold any meeting. Though he has recently said that he would make a comeback and would play a more active role in future, nothing seems to have changed in the constituency. What is important is that Buggana is growing from strength to strength by getting funds sanctioned for developmental and infrastructural works. He is keeping in touch with the cadre and the rural people in a very effective manner. At this rate, beating Buggana needs an extraordinary effort and the KE family has not been doing what is needed to be done.

On the other hand, KE Krishna Murthy and KE Prabhakar have become quite inactive due to age factors. KE Pratap is yet to pick up. If something is not done immediately, the situation could further worsen for the KE family. The famed political family of the KEs will become a thing of the past very soon, according to political pundits. It ‘s about time the KE family begins the push-back.
