According to Andhra Pradesh Health department, the state government has completed a massive 1 million COVID tests across the state. While the first 1 lakh samples were tested in 59 days, it took just 65 days to test the 9 lakh samples. The number of new cases reported on Sunday, 998, took the total number of cases to 18,697. The total deaths related to COVID-19 increased by 14 to 232 Sunday.
In the 9 AM bulletin on Sunday, the Health department has reported to have done 10,17,123 tests and AP is the second state to achieve cross the 1 Million mark after Maharashtra. On Sunday, AP’s positivity rate stood at 1.74%, while the recovery rate is well above 60%. With 10,043 active cases, the state government has performed 19,084 tests per million people.
While the neighbouring Telangana state is struggling with low tests citing capacity constraints, Andhra Pradesh is doing remarkable job to combat COVID-19. Besides UK Deputy High Commissioner Andrew Flemming, Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan also showered praises on CM Jagan Mohan Reddy for having dealt with Coronavirus quite effectively.
