AP DGP Gautam Sawang appeared before the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday going by the orders issued by the court directing him to appear before the court.
The Constitutional bench of the High Court said DGP is sincere and efficient, but he was made to attend the Court with the mistakes committed by the lower staff members.The High Court is hearing a petition filed by S.I Rama Rao. The police officer has claimed that he was not given his dew promotion, but his juniors in the department got their promotions.
While hearing the case, the High Court has earlier directed the police department to promote S.I Rama Rao. With the department not promoting him, he has moved the High Court.He knocked on the doors of the High Courts on the grounds of the Contempt case. The DGP appeared before the Court to give his explanation on why the S.I was not promoted.
The DGP told the High Court that Rama Rao was promoted as the C. I recently. When asked about the delay in the promotions, he said the process was delayed as the police department went to the appeal.During the hearing, the bench said that DGP is sincere and efficient, but he attended the court due to the mistakes of the lower staff. The bench said DGP need not appear to attend the court from the next hearing.
