The Andhra Pradesh high court is on a roll for the past few months and it is known that they have been regularly giving a tough time to the YS Jagan led AP government. On the other side, to protect the integrity of the court, they are not at all tolerating the posts that are being appeared on various social media handles which are very much defamatory to the judicial bench.
The High Court Registrar told the court that no action was taken by the AP government against people in social media for making intentional and objectionable postings against the Hon’ble AP High court and seeking action against them. In this connection, a petition filed by the Registrar of the High Court came up for hearing in the High Court. However, they told the court that they had made minor changes in the petition filed and filed an additional affidavit.
The Advocate General told the court on behalf of the government that they needed some time to submit a counter on this. The court agreed. In the same case, however, another supplementary petition was filed. Shivananda Reddy, a former police officer from Kurnool, has filed another petition in this regard. Muralidhar Rao, on behalf of the petitioner, heard their arguments in court. He mentioned several key issues in the petition.
Shivananda said there was a conspiracy angle behind what was happening on social media against the High Court and asked the CBI to direct an inquiry into it. Several key pieces of evidence have been submitted to the court. He explained how the YCP social media works under the direction of the Prashant Kishor and said that he is the one behind all these defamations of the AP High Court.
Counsel for the petitioner responded that the investigating officers were not conducting an impartial inquiry. They added that the High Court had issued notices to 94 persons in the past, but only 12 have so far filed cases. The High Court also expressed dissatisfaction with the CID on this occasion. They questioned CID about the improper action being taken by them. The court ordered that at least those objectionable postings be removed if there is any respect towards the judicial system.
