The YS Jagan Mohan Reddy led Andhra Pradesh government that had implemented the timely measures to beat the deadly Coronavirus had come to the rescue of the kin of the Coronavirus victims this time. The state government had come up with orders that would help the kin of the victims.
The Andhra Pradesh government said that the families of those who have lost their lives to the contagious Covid pandemic will be given an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 each. Orders on how the ex-gratia will be given were issued by the government.
The guidelines say the ex-gratia will be given to the families in two weeks of receiving the applications. The Collector’s Office in every district in the state will have a special cell that will deal with the ex-gratia related issues. Applications for the same would be made ready and the special cell will give all the required information on the same.
The Andhra Pradesh Medical Health Department said that the applications will be provided with special numbers on the applications based on the jurisdictions of the respective districts. The applications would be given under the name of the revenue officer.
The Andhra Pradesh government issued orders on ex-gratia for the families of Covid victims going by the guidelines issued by the National Disaster Management Authority and the Central government on the ex-gratia for the families.
The Union Government had agreed to pay the ex-gratia for the kin of the victims back in October this year. After the Supreme Court pulled the Centre over the delay in announcing its stand on ex gratia, the Centre said, ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 would be given for every family.
The guidelines say that the families of the victims will be given Rs 50,000 after the cause of the Covid is confirmed as Covid. The amount will be given within 30 days of submitting the application. The Supreme Court had earlier said that the state governments cannot say no to the ex-gratia and the amount should be given from the respective State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). A few states have already announced the ex-gratia and Andhra Pradesh joined the list now.
