When the Trade unions of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and the political parties are protesting against privatising the steel plant, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the decisions to disinvest the government’s stake in the plant is inevitable and she even said the state government has no power to oppose the move.
The Andhra Pradesh wing of BJP which has been saying all these days that it is against the move to privatise the plant to which the people of Andhra Pradesh are associated sentimentally.
AP BJP leader Vamaraju Satyamurty came in support of Nirmala Sitharaman over the steel plant issue and backed her comments. He said the opposition parties are creating an issue out of it and alleged that these parties have vested interest in the plant issue.
Talking about the comments of Nirmala Sitharaman, Vamaraju Satyamurty said, she just gave clarification from her side on the Centre’s situation on privatising the Vizag Steel Plant.
The BJP leader was quoted by News Agency ANI as saying, the Centre is bound to disinvestment in the Public Sector Undertaking(PSU) like VSP and others which is a national policy.
According to the leader, the Union Government will not call for the bidding for the 22 acres of land. The bidding will be called only for the VSp. The land that belongs to the plant will be saved for expansion in the future.
This came as a sudden surprise for the political analysts and observers. From day 1, the AP wing of the saffron party is telling that they are against the decision and they will raise their voice against this.
