Arun Govil, famous for portraying Lord Ram in ‘Ramayan’ wears BJP shawl

The Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) has been receiving a flood of political leaders and noted celebrities ahead of the Assembly elections in four states. One more personality joined the list.

Arun Govil, who shot to fame with epic Indian television series. Ramayan has joined the saffron party today. Arun Govil played Lord Ram in the series that aired in the late ’80s.

Unlike other personalities that joined the BJP, Arun Govil will not contest the elections. However, Mr. Govil will serve the BJP as a star campaigner in the upcoming elections.

After joining the saffron party, Arun Govil found fault with people who have problems with Jai Shri Ram, a slogan widely used by the BJP during their election campaign. This country belongs to Lord Ram, Mr. Govil said.

Jai Shri Ram slogan was politicised in West Bengal with TMC chief, serving Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee refusing to say Jai Shri Ram. BJP and other Right-Wing bodies questioned why Didi has an issue with the slogan.

It has to be noted that, West Bengal wing of BJP had earlier alleged that they were attacked in the state after they chanted Jai Shri Ram. However, Mamata termed these reports as allegations.

Ramayan series is the highest viewed series not only in India but also in the world. The series which was re-telecasted during the lockdown period emerged as the most-viewed program across the globe.
