Several members of the Telugu Desam Party have been suspended for a day, for the third consecutive day, after the onset of the Winter Assembly sessions this Monday. On Monday, several members, including TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu, were suspended for a day, after a huge war of words broke out regarding the insurance program for the farmers of AP.
On the second day, several other members got suspended after yet another war of words broke out between TDP and the ruling YSRCP, with regards to TIDCO houses, that are being constructed for the poor.
Today, on the 3rd day of the sessions, 9 members are said to have been suspended after their reportedly loud behavior in the Polavaram Project issue. It is being said that these members have been suspended after they caused disturbance to Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s speech.
What’s highly interesting is the fact that Jagan repeatedly makes comments about suspending the members of the TDP from the Assembly, and sometimes, it also looks as though he is ordering the Speaker to suspend them from the Assembly. Jagan is also said to have ordered the Speaker to suspend the members of the TDP if they did not sit quietly in their seats within 10 minutes, and is also said to have advised the Speaker to make the Marshals drag the members of the TDP out from the Assembly.
The suspension of the members of the opposition clears the way for the ruling party. This poses a major threat as the real problems do not surface if there’s no debate between the opposition and the ruling parties, and monopoly will prevail, which is not beneficial for a democratic nation’s people at all.
