TDP member Atchannaidu needs no introduction, as the politician has continued to be in the news for quite some time now. Atchannaidu was arrested by the ACB in relation to an alleged scam in the ESI, when Atchannaidu was a part of the ESI, between 2014 and 2019.
The whole of TDP stood by Atchannaidu, claiming that he is innocent and that the YSRCP is simply exacting its revenge on the TDP by some or the other means. Atchannaidu has since been released on bail, and has now been appointed as the President of Andhra Pradesh Telugu Desam Party.
There were a lot of rumors for quite a few days till now, about Atchannaidu being the new President, and now it has been made official. Atchannaidu has been appointed in the place of previous President Kala Venkata Rao, after Rao stepped down as the President, following his debacle in last year’s elections.
The fact that Atchannaidu belongs to the backward class community is an added advantage to the TDP, which has been endorsing and supporting the BCs ever since its inception. Chandrababu Naidu has been making many changes in the TDP recently, giving a more important and prominent role to the BCs in the party.
Atchannaidu is expected to take on official responsibilities from the end of this month. Atchannaidu is the brother of the late Central Minister Yerran Naidu and uncle of present Srikakulam MP Rammohan Naidu.
