Senior TDP leaders and North Andhra political biggies – K Atchen Naidu and MP K Rammohan Naidu – had a mighty fall from the state on Wednesay in Srikalulam. Both Atchen and Rammohan were attending the postal cover’s inauguration in honour of legendary political personality Gowthu Latchana in the district headquarters.
After offering floral tributes to Latchanna’s bust, Rammohan Naidu came to his sofa and sat on the dais. Even as he was looking into his mobile, his paternal uncle and MLA Atchen Naidu came and sat on the table. At that instant, the sofa, kept at the edge of the dais, overturned taking both the MP and the MLA with it. For some moments, there was pandemonium.
However, alert officials immediately lifted up the sofa along with the two leaders. They then arranged the sofas properly to enable both Rammohan Naidu and Atchen Naidu sit safely. Later, the postal cover in honour of Latchanna was released in the presence of several VIPs. Gouthu Latchanna’s granddaughter Gouthu Sireesha too was present.
Latchanna’s postal stamp was released in April this year. This programme was organized as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The local auditorium too has been renamed Sardar Gouthu Latchanna Kala Pranganam.
