The much-anticipated release of the sequel to animated hit 2009 fantasy-sci-fi drama Avatar has been kept on hold yet again, and according to the director James Cameron, it will not be probably releasing in 2018 as expected earlier.
Cameron also explained the reason for the delay and said that the entire team is working on multiple projects based on its all four sequels simultaneously, and therefore they are not sure about when will they get to confirm a release date for the second sequel in the line.
“Well, 2018 is not happening. We haven’t announced a firm release date,” said the Oscar-winning film-maker about the probable release of Avatar 2.
“What people have to understand is that this is a cadence of releases. So we’re not making ‘Avatar 2.’ We’re making ‘Avatar 2,’ 3, 4 and 5. It’s an epic undertaking.” James Cameron said in a statement.
Cameron added that to complete one single movie Avatar, it took them about four years, and as now they are working on it all four sequels it is consuming time along with huge effort from the entire team.
“It took us four-and-a-half years to make one movie and now we’re making four. We’re full tilt boogie right now,” Cameron added further.
