Award For ‘The Kashmir Files’ & Controversy Sparks Again!

‘The Kashmir Files’ is one of the most controversial films which was released last year. The movie earned huge money and no one expected to the magnitude of its success. Though the left-wingers complain about the government indirectly backing the film’ the story of Kashmiri Pundits has struck the emotional chord of the audience who were moved by their miseries.

The was given a National Award in the National Integration category. Director Vivek Agnihotri and Anupam Kher who played the leading role expressed their happiness but a few had other opinions. Former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah posted a clip of the film getting an award and added a laughing emoji to it. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin wrote’ ‘The dignity of national awards should not be compromised for cheap politics.’

He added’ ‘It is shocking that a film that was ignored by neutral film critics as a controversial film has been awarded the National Integrity Nargis Dutt award. The absence of political bias in the literature and film awards makes the awards a timeless honour.’

National Conference’s Sheikh Bashir Ahmed said’ ‘A film that promoted hatred has been given the National Integration Award. It is a mockery of the National Film Awards as the film is based on falsehood and hatred. ‘The Kashmir Files’ movie is anti-Muslim and Muslims have been shown in poor light in the film.’ A lot of people expressed their dissatisfaction over ‘The Kashmir Files’ getting an award for promoting National Integrity
